Indaba Fish On The Beach

Indaba is set overlooking Swanpool Beach, Falmouth, taking in fine views across the bay towards St Anthony's Head lighthouse. The restaurant is bright, clean and modern in its decor and there is also extensive seating outside both open and under canvas. The speciality is obviously seafood and what's on offer is fresh, well cooked and presented, and competitively priced. We used to go there quite often when it was known as "The Three Mackerel" and I think it has actually improved. On our latest visit I enjoyed tampura squid; sea bass and scallops on asparagas risotto; and lemon tart. My only reservation would be that the desserts on offer could have been a little more imaginative and as they'd run out of vanilla ice cream my lemon tart was accompanied by an ice-cream scoop of clotted cream which was definitely too much of a good thing. An excellent evening, and well worthy of recommendation. Oh, the wine list is also first rank.

Indaba is at Swanpool Beach, Falmouth TR11 5BG. It's open Monday - Sunday 12:00 to 15:00 and Monday to Saturday 18:00 to 21:30. You can contact them on 01326 311886 or onthebeach@indabafish.co.uk.

There is also a sister restaurant at Tabernacle Street, Truro.
