First St Ives Pub To Win AA Rosette

Sunday, 6 November 2011

Only six months after being re-opened, the Queens Hotel, St Ives, has enjoyed the prestige of being awarded one rosette by the AA for "the very enjoyable cuisine with excellent local produce utilised within simple but effective dishes."

Chef Matt Perry says, "We're pleased to have been recognised so quickly. We've set our standards high, using the best local produce to create punchy flavours, and it?s great to be rewarded so publicly."

Owners Neythan and Sarah Hayes took on the St Austell brewery pub earlier this year, opening in April 2011 after a major refurbishment. "It's all about providing great rooms and great food in relaxed pub atmosphere," says Neyth.

"We were really lucky to find Matt, a chef thinking along the same lines as us. Our mission is to provide the very best pub food, but keep it simple, keep it fresh, and keep it affordable. Everything's made from scratch, from the bread to the ice-cream. Customers have been pretty open to more unusual dishes too, such as soused mackerel and beetroot-cured salmon, braised lamb faggots, 28-day-hung rump steak or ling fish and chips."

The Queens is the only pub in St Ives offering 4 star accommodation plus one rosette: so clearly it's the perfect place to enjoy dinner and a (king-size) bed for the night.
