At Hendra Farm, David and Senara Collings breed and rear a wide range of livestock and also sell meat direct to the public. They also run a mobile catering concern selling their meats as ‘Ansum Bangers and ‘Ansum Burgers.
Lamb is produced from a flock of Herdwick sheep. The meat from this breed is renowned for its distinctive taste and quality. Succulent, tender, it also produces a “gamier” flavour than conventional breeds as the animals take longer to mature.
Alpacas. The meat from alpacas is lean, dense and tender: similar to beef but sweeter. The meat is low in cholesterol and high in protein.
The farm also produces pigs, ducks and free range chicken.
Visitors to the farm are also welcome to see pedigree Shire horses and an owl encounter centre.
