Cornish Food Box Company Launched In Truro
Friday, 10 December 2010
Cornwall's newest food business launched this week bringing together the cream of the county's producers for a Christmas Party and cookery demonstration in Truro.
More than sixty people from Cornwall's food world packed the Artisan Cookshop in Kenwyn Street, to celebrate the launch of The Cornish Food Box Company on Tuesday evening.
Set up by sisters Victoria Amran and Lucy Jones, The Cornish Food Box Company is working with more than 50 of Cornwall's small food producers to make it easy for people living and working in Truro to shop for local food.
"We've been really delighted with the amount of support we've been given setting this business up," said Victoria Amran, who is also the Development Officer for a project in West Cornwall promoting local farmers' markets.
"We're working with some of the very best artisan food producers in Cornwall and are now able to deliver fresh, seasonal Cornish food to homes and offices in Truro. I am a busy working mum who wants to buy local food because I know it's good for our economy and I know it's good for my children, but often there isn't enough time to visit farmers' markets and farm shops to get everything I need. That's why we set up The Cornish Food Box Company : you can get everything for the weekly food shop in one box delivered direct to your door and its all Cornish!"
The Cornish Food Box Company is committed to working with some of the county's smallest food producers to help them grow their businesses at a sustainable rate and become financially viable in the long term.
Victoria added: "We want to make sure we always have a supply of local produce so are working with a number of very small producers. They can't supply the bigger businesses because they can't keep up with the demand. The Cornish Food Box Company has been set up specifically to help these businesses grow and thrive."
