Cornish Tourism Helps Local Food
Thursday, 6 December 2007
New to us is the Visitor Payback Scheme through which tourism can contribute to a worthy cause. So, for example, Rezare Farmhouse bed and breakfast adds (a voluntary) 25 pence per person per night to their tariff and donates that money to Tamar Grow Local which is a Community Interest Company seeking to facilitate and support local people in growing their own food; working with commercial growers and supply chains to encourage local food consumption; and to raise the profile of market gardening and local food in the Tamar valley. This is a brilliant idea which we hope will grow in popularity with businesses and visitors alike to help keep alive local food traditions and innovations.
