Launch of "Cooking Up Stories" Calendar
Monday, 17 October 2011
'Cooking up Stories' 2012 calendar is a collaboration between food businesses, schools and communities in the Lizard area. It is based on an exchange of favours. Working together Sanjay Kumar, chair of Slow Food Cornwall, cooked for ShelterBox, Roskilly's shared their business story with Food Technology students and Manaccan School hosted a grand community tea party with a local cake maker. This is not just a calendar but it also contains recipes collected from schools, community groups and businesses that can become a keepsake. Every month celebrates how food can bring people together and is a celebration of the resurgence of the Farmers markets and the continued success of food producers, growers and businesses that dot the landscape on the Lizard Peninsula.
The 'Cooking up Stories' calendar will be launched at the Helston Farmers Market on the 5th November at 10.30am. Joanne Schofield will be at the launch and presenting the calendar to the public alongside the Tough Dough team who coordinated the project. Oliver Jackson from Trelowarren New Yard Restaurant will be working with students from Helston College to cook up some culinary delights to celebrate this exciting new venture. The calenders will be available for purchase to the public. The sale of the 2012 calendar will be invested back into the production of a future 2013 calendar. They will cost £5 ( £1 P&P).
