Some 20,000 people enjoyed the August Bank Holiday Newlyn Fish Festival this year. The harbourside focus was on the fish market where a superb display of seafood attracted an appreciative audience all day until it was auctioned off in the evening with proceeds going to the Fishermaen's Mission. The event raises half of the Mission's annual income.

Sanjay Kumar, chef to Falmouth's Greenbank Hotel, demonstrated how to prepare and cook different seafoods throughout the day with some special asian twists.

In the many stalls lining the harbour were numerous Cornish food producers and displays from Penlee Lifeboat, fishing boats and musical entertainments all added up to a splendid day out.
