Cornish Gouda is made by a Dutch family that moved to Cornwall in 1998. They own a family run dairy farm in Lanreath near Looe producing high quality milk from pedigree Holstein Friesians. Due to poor milk prices they began looking to improve the sustainability of their business and their farm with the production of cheese using the milk produced by themselves.
They now produce a variety of aged original and flavoured Cornish Gouda cheeses. Winners of Best Hard Cheese at the Great British Cheese Awards 2016.
Mild Gouda
Ready to eat as early as 6 weeks from production but is best served between 2-3 months. The cheese is great in sandwiches and is particularly popular among children due to its mild flavour.
Medium Gouda
Aged between 3-4 months and is slightly creamier and slightly stronger tasting than the mild Gouda.
Semi-Mature Gouda
Aged between 5-6 months and is perfect for those who like a cheese with a bit of a kick to it but still very creamy.
Gouda with herbs
Herbs such as ‘Fenugreek’, ‘Honey & Clover’ and ‘Italian herbs’. This is best served between 3-5 months maturity. Just like the mild Gouda, this cheese is very versatile; it is great on sandwiches and fantastic on a cheeseboard.
Mature Gouda
Requires a much longer period to mature. The cheese is easy eating, but offers more complex and richer flavours than its mild brother.
Please will you advise if you are able to supply a complete wheel of gouda, and the approximate cost. Grandson’s request for a birthday present! Thank you
