Tesco has launched a promotion of Cornish new potatoes with packaging sporting the Cornish flag. The season started later than usual this year because of the wet spring and the promotion will run until August, when potatoes from Suffolk take over. Later in the year the supermarket brings in imports from Italy and Cyprus. Growers from down West and the Wadebridge-Bodmin area, supplying potatoes for the store, report a difficult growing season.
