Fowey Valley Cider is a small scale cider producer employing long standing traditions and expertise in crafting its premium sparkling cider.
Fowey Valley Sparkling Vintage Cider 2012
Fowey Valley’s Sparkling Vintage Cider is made with a high proportion of dessert apples in the mix to give it that delicious ‘méthode traditionelle’ taste. No sulphites or other preservatives are used. The apples are just pressed, then fermented twice: first in the barrel for a year; then a second year’s fermentation in the bottle. The cider is then disgorged in the champagne style and aged further before release. It is the secondary fermentation that gives the cider its wonderful bubbly effervescence; a method invented in the West Country for fine cider making around 1600, well before it was used in France for Champagne.
Fowey Valley Vintage Cider Vinegar 2011
Fowey Valley Cider Vinegar is made from the 2011 Vintage Cider. Aged for nearly four years before bottling, the cider vinegar is unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no preservatives added.
The vinegar is 5% strength – perfect for salads, chips and pickling.
It comes in 750ml and 250ml. The 750ml size comes with a free pourer.
Fowey Valley Extra Virgin Olive Oil
To complement their cider vinegar Fowey Valley import and bottle extra virgin olive oil from southwest Sicily. The Nocellara del Belice olives are grown in the Belice Valley near the town of Castelvetrano. This variety is characterised by its bright green colour and its large, plump size; each olive weighs from 6 to 8 grams.
The oil has aromas of citrus fruits and pepper. It is lightly spicy, extraordinarily fruity, silky and light with notes of artichokes, green apple, tomatoes and delicate young green almond. The finish is wonderfully fresh.
