John Cooper Furniss, master baker, opened his first tea shop in the centre of Truro in the 1880s. His passion for using only the best ingredients, sourced locally where possible, and exacting attention to detail quickly secured the Furniss tea shop a reputation for serving up the tastiest biscuits in town.
Furniss is the only UK biscuit maker licensed to produce “Original Cornish Fairings”. A Cornish favourite for over a century, the name derives from a little gift bought at the fair for a sweetheart or loved one.
