Philps Bakery has been making legendary Cornish pasties since 1958 using traditional methods and recipes passed down through the family for generations. There are two outlets in Hayle with further shops in Marazion and Praze-an-Beeble. All shops are open from 08:30 – 18:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 – 16:00 on Sundays.
As at Spring 2018, Philps Bakery has acquired the business of Horse and Jockey Bakery to provide shops at Helston and Porthleven.
Philps’ pasties are available in a number of sizes and varieties. For their traditional Cornish steak pasties the finest Cornish skirt steak is sourced from butcher Robert Trevarthen, and potatoes, onions and swede are all sourced within a five mile radius of Hayle. Seasoned in a shortcrust pastry made with Rodda’s Cornish butter and West Country premium grade flour the result is a Cornish pasty of the highest quality. Also available are mince beef pasties, cheese and vegetable pasties (using Davidstow cheddar) and vegetable and butter pasties.
Fresh bread is made available every day and with a wide variety of different types including granary and wholemeal.
A selection of ready filled bread rolls are available with a wide variety of fresh fillings, sauces and relishes. Made fresh daily, rolls can also be filled to meet specific requirements.
Cakes & Confectionery
Philps Bakery offers a wide range of different cakes and confectionery. Some firm favourites include chocolate fudge brownies, saffron buns, flapjacks, rock buns and cream teas.
