Quayside Fish Centre

Quayside Fish is an award winning Cornish fishmonger situated in Porthleven – a small historic Cornish fishing village. Weather permitting, fish and shellfish are landed directly from small inshore boats owned by local Porthleven fishermen, and they also source sustainably caught fish from day boats landing at ports such as Coverack, Mevagissey, Polperro, Looe and Fowey.

As well as the freshest fish and seafood, the shop has high quality Cornish meats sourced from local farms available to order.

In 2016 the shop received a Silver award from Taste of the West, and was crowned Champion in the fish category of the Taste of the West awards for their Oak Smoked Haddock. In 2017 they received a Gold award in the Taste of the West awards for ‘Quayside Roast’ hot smoked Salmon which also went through to the best in category final.

Grey Mullet

Strong flavours suit this fish and you can use any bass recipe for it.

Mackerel

An excellent fish, one that everyone knows, delicious when fresh, full of healthy Omega 3 fatty acids. Perfect baked whole on the BBQ.

John Dory

Is an excellent, highly adaptable fish that goes with almost anything. A strange looking fish and rarely available to the public, this is because it is so tasty that most fishermen take them home to eat themselves!

Wild Sea Bass

Cornish Wild Bass is in a class of it’s own – Excellent flavour and adapts to many cooking methods.

Lemon Sole

Cooked on the bone, simply grilled, the lemon sole is a reliable and consistent fish.

Plaice

Landed locally in abundance during the summer months. A delicate flatfish and Britains favourite. Any recipe for lemon sole, megrim or even Dover sole will suit plaice.

Turbot

This wonderful, firm-fleshed, fine tasting fish is sheer perfection. One of the finest fish in the sea.

Brill

Brill is an excellent flat fish and a firm restaurant favourite. It is wonderful fish to cook and eat.

Megrim

Megrim are small to medium flat fish, caught mainly off the Cornish coast. A delicate flesh eaten best on the bone, simply grilled.

The much loved Dover sole simply grilled is still the very best way to eat it.
