Smeaton Farm is a 450 acre farm situated in the Tamar Valley. The farm is very much a family affair, being run by the husband and wife team Richard and Sarah Jones, and their three children Ashley, Megan and Harriet.
On the farm there are Aberdeen Angus beef cattle, Dorset Horn sheep and Saddleback & Tamworth pigs.
The farm is in the Entry and Higher Level Stewardship Schemes. These schemes are run by the government to sustain the landscape’s beauty and diversity by encouraging wildlife and environment friendly farming. It’s aim is to protect and extend wildlife habitats, conserve archaeological sites, restore neglected land or features, create new habitats and improve opportunities for people to enjoy the countryside.
The farm is certified by the Soil Association as organic. Products can be purchased on-line. Smeaton Farm also offers 4* bed and breakfast accommodation.
All beef products are sourced from Aberdeen Angus cattle, possibly the best known breed in England.
Their home produced pork is sourced from free range rare breed Saddleback, a native English breed that is particularly known for the sows excellent mothering abilities.
All of their lamb products are derived from a flock of Dorset Horn lambs, known as the ‘king of the prime lamb breed’.
